Waste heat boiler with ip-tube for sulfuric acid synthesis

Hugo Petersen GmbH | Domo Leuna

Hugo Petersen GmbH required a waste heat boiler for process cooling for its process engineering plant for sulfuric acid production.

Project Highlights

51 t/h steam
at 56 bar

Special design
with ip-tube

Final assembly
directly on site

Initial Situation

  • A waste heat boiler for process cooling is required for a process engineering plant for the production of sulfuric acid.
  • Due to the confined space conditions, the special synthesis gas, and the required steam parameters – high pressure as an individual special boiler design

The Solution from SCHNEIDER-KESSEL BERLIN®

A special waste heat boiler of type AHK-ip (SB) 51000/56 with structural tubes (ip-tube), natural circulation, and separate steam drum was used. The inlet chamber was lined with ceramic sleeves and refractory concrete, the outlet chamber was made of high-grade stainless steel. A water-cooled internal bypass control system ensures additional process safety. Final assembly was carried out directly at the construction site in Leuna.

Our Services

  • Planning, manufacturing, and delivery of a waste heat boiler with structural tubes (ip-tube) as a hybrid boiler / special design of a fire-tube boiler with separate steam drum (natural circulation), with final on-site assembly.
  • Design of the inlet chamber with ceramic sleeves and refractory concrete. Outlet chamber in stainless steel
  • Internal water-cooled bypass control
